Researchers followed 1,100 healthy firefighters, who did not have existing cardiovascular disease, for over 10 years.
Those that could to more than 40 push-ups in a minute at the start of the study had a 96% reduced risk of cardiovascular events compared with those who were able to do less than 10 push-ups at the start of the 10-year study.
